Lamentation and Light (Study I)

אֵיכָה וָאוֹר (Eikhah va-Or)

Oil on Canvas on Panel, 30x40

Eikhah va-Or I approaches lamentation as an atmospheric condition rather than a narrative event. The lower field, violet deepened with red, suggests grief as vibration: sorrow that moves through the spirit rather than weighing upon the body. Above it, a narrow band of yellow light hovers uncertainly, not yet secure, not yet lost. The upper field remains pale and unresolved, holding light as possibility rather than arrival.

This work carries the tone of Eikhah as cry, grief lifted upward, searching for language. It is the lament of the soul: diffuse, ungraspable, and unresolved. Light does not answer the sorrow; it listens to it.
